  1. More effort went into the painting than the photograph of the painting. Lots of reflections and poor resolution. This was my first time painting on panel, and it is a very different feeling from painting on canvas or linen. Didn’t like it at all. Even with several layers of acrylic gesso and oil primer on top it was not absorbent at all. The paint just sits on the surface. This made it much more difficult to blend while preserving detail. I feel sorry for the renaissance painters. I may mount linen on panel but I’ll be painting on linen from now on.
