Frieda

Funerary mask for Frieda, my parents’ beloved beast.

Oil on cradled birchwood panel from “American Easel.” Ground was then toned with burnt sienna.

  • Sap Green
  • Viridian Green
  • Ultramarine Blue
  • Flake White
  • Chromatic Black
  • Mars Black
  • Galkyd Slow Dry Medium
  • Gamsol Odorless Mineral Spirits

Design was sketched onto toned canvas with graphite pencil.

Background scumbled in.

Eyes, hedgehog and some more background details added. End of first session.

First pass at Frieda painted. End of second session.

Added glazes, additional details to background and fur. End of third session.
